Wait a minute, what is Awake Beauty?!
Awake Beauty is the new sister company of Tarte Cosmetics. The brand itself is actually not new, and has been a brand since about 1995. Awake Beauty uses Japanese technology and plants to provide a refreshed and well-rested look to the skin. As most of you know by now, I LOVE Japan, and it is one of my favorite places on Earth. Awake and Tarte actually combined forces back in 2014, and have been perfecting the products since then, and now, we get to try them out! Their tagline is “Beauty sleep in a bottle”, and that just sounds incredible to me. What I love about these products is that they use the power of botanicals to enhance the power of their products. Oh, and their products are mostly multi-taskers!
Awake Beauty Gelactic Dream Hydrating Mask
I love a good sleeping mask, and this is exactly what that is. The formulation is pretty interesting. It is a gel to oil mask. There is such a thing as putting too much of this product on, and my first time I did that. If you use it sparingly, then it feels incredible on the skin. If you use too much, then you will be wiping it off your face. The Awake Beauty Gelactic Dream Hydrating Mask is meant to hydrate and revive your skin. Rice germ oil provides antioxidants to your skin, and honeysuckle extract provides moisture. Sesame oil is typically used to fight inflammatory properties. I’ve been using this before bedtime. What I really love about the Awake Beauty products is that they can be layered with each other for the ultimate nighttime skincare routine. As always, they are cruelty-free and vegan as well!
When used properly, Awake Beauty Gelactic Dream Hydrating Mask provides an incredibly moisturized feeling to the skin. It does transfer onto your pillow if you use too much, so keep that in mind! The gel to oil texture is something that I had not experienced with a sleeping mask before. In comparison to my love, Dior Hydra Life Jelly Sleeping Mask, it does feel heavier on the skin. This product is meant for normal to dry skin. I’m not sure about oily skin and this product, I feel like it may be overwhelming. The packaging is completely on brand, and is almost enough to make you buy it. The jar feels heavy and substantial, and comes with quite a bit of product in it. It is going to cost $38 bucks for 3.7 ounces. Considering that skincare products like this go for a lot more, I consider it a winner.
Awake Beauty Pore Tightening Concentrate
This is a serum-gel that helps to minimize the appearance of pores. The biggest goal of this product is to “resurface” the skin, and create a smoother appearance and feel over time. One thing to note is that the Awake Beauty Pore Tightening Concentrate does have a slight tingly feeling on your skin. I actually have pretty sensitive skin when it comes to any sort of product with a tingle, but this is something that goes away within just a few seconds. Feeling my product work is always something that I like. It contains hemp powder which helps to absorb the excess oil off of your skin, and provides a slight exfoliation as well. Quince is a great toner for your skin as well.
Hibiscus is stacked with benefits for your skin as well! Not only has it traditionally been used in skincare products for year. Primarily in Japanese skincare, which is the essence of Awake Beauty! it also helps to fight off free radicals which can cause wrinkles and signs of aging or pollution! I know that for me, anti-aging is something that I love in skincare. Prevention is much better than treatment, and it is never too early to start. Once again, this product can be layered with various products, and can be used day and night! You can find this at Awake Beauty for $38, and the size is 4.1 ounces.
Awake Beauty Hydra Shot Antioxidant Concentrate
I’m going to go ahead and get the one thing I hate about this product. The actual component where the product comes out is terrible. It just makes it harder than it should be, and I think we all love a pump! What I do like about this product is the benefits that it offers. First off, this is a plant-based oil, which I think is such a great step into the beauty industry for Awake Beauty. Not only is it great for the environment, but it allows for everyone to be able to use the product as well. The Awake Beauty Hydra Shot Antioxidant Concentrate contains rice germ oil which not only protects from free radicals, but also provides nourishment to the skin.
Western linden extract helps to soothe the skin, and lychee seed extract provides the shot of moisture. Hence the name! Another huge part of this product is that you need to shake it together before applying it on your skin. This combines all of the ingredients so you are getting the full benefit of the product. This serum is incredibly lightweight on the skin, and is a great addition to the skincare routine that I currently use. I also love that there is practically no smell to any of these products (at least for me). You can find this at Awake Beauty for $38, and the size is 1.7 ounces.
