How to declutter every single day to make your life easier!
I think that I speak for all of us when I say that I can really collect some clutter! To be honest, I have no idea where most of my clutter comes from. It is almost like I fall asleep, and all of a sudden my drawers are bursting at the seams! Well my friends, I finally decided to do whatever I could to eliminate that from happening. Usually, when I think about how to declutter, it can sometimes freak me out. I’ve taken four of my daily habits and listed them below so that you can begin to include them in your life as well!
1. Declutter your drawers weekly!
As I mentioned before, my drawers can seriously collect some clutter! During the week, it seems like I just toss things into them when I’m not sure what to do with it. Back in the day, my drawers were dangerous, no one every knew what was in them! After I cut my hand on a steak knife that somehow ended up in my sock drawer I knew it was time to change something. Each week, I go through every single drawer in my house. Not only is this my main key on how to declutter, but it can help eliminate waste as well. As long as you know what a drawer is specified for, you are less likely to keep junk!
The worst thing about drawers is that you can stuff them, and close the clutter. Make sure that you go through your drawers often! Every time I pull something out of a drawer, I’ll look through it and see if anything can go. Most times, I can toss, donate, or give away something. Every Friday, go through your drawers! Eventually, it will just become second nature to you.
2. Go through your beauty products, please!
Not only is this a great lesson on how to declutter, but it can really be a health issue as well! Expired beauty products are something that can lead to infections, and sometimes even illness. All beauty products come with an expiration notice on the product. It looks like a small jar, and will tell you how long a product is good. Something else to note is that just because something looks good in a photo, it doesn’t mean that it needs to stay in your cabinet or bag! As a blogger, this is something that I struggle with all of the time. If something doesn’t work for you, get rid of it, or pass it on to a friend or family member (as long as it is clean!).
Once again, this is a great lesson in budgeting as well. If you know that you already have a moisturizer that you love, you are less likely to go out and buy a new one. Keep an inventory of what you have, and it will help to stay decluttered!
3. Clean out your clothes and accessories too
With each season, we see ourselves buying new fashion pieces to work with our wardrobe. I’m not saying that you necessarily have to toss everything, but you can keep it organized all year round with a few simple tips. Instead of keeping everything hanging in your closet, create a capsule wardrobe for the season. When it is ninety degrees outside, you don’t need that knee length faux fur coat. Store items that you aren’t using to create more space for what you are currently using.
When you switch between seasons, this is a great time to go through your closet as well. If you can’t see yourself wearing that item next year, if it doesn’t fit you, or just not your style, donate that item! There are tons of great shelters that will put your items to good use for women and children in need. Similar to the beauty products, you can also use this as some sort of inventory system so that you don’t end up with five red blazers!
4. Tips on how to declutter all week
The easiest way to declutter is to just clean up after yourself! When I was in college, you can bet that I was not cleaning up after myself, and it showed. I eventually got into a habit of just doing what I needed to as it arose. If I know the dishes need to be done, I just do them. Waiting on those around you to do things is not the way to live! My nightstand is a place that can get cluttered up quite quickly as well. When you get up in the morning, try and take anything that you set on there off, and put it where it needs to go.My last tip is keep your car clean! I’m not saying that you have to vacuum every single speck of dust, but keep as little in your car as you can! Not only is this a safety tip, but it will help keep your car clean as well!
