For what seems like years, I have been hearing that we all have to start drinking lemon water. As someone who struggles to drink water, I will pretty much take any hack I can get. As part of new year blah blah blah I decided to try it out! Did I actually see any benefits? Is it just a great incentive to drink more water? Let me tell you my first hand experience with drinking warm lemon water for a month.
Why should we drink warm lemon water?
There are a ton of great benefits to drinking warm lemon water. Honestly, water is good enough on its’ own to really focus on drinking more of it! If you need some tips on how to drink more water, I actually did a post on tips and tricks that I actually use to help me! Warm lemon water is apparently great for digesting and detoxification! Who knew! It contains pectin which helps to reduce bad cholesterol levels. Oh, by the way, pectin helps to keep you feeling full too! That results in weightless, heyyyy! I don’t know about you, but spring is usually a terrible time for my immune system. Before I get into my thoughts, just know that I have been much healthier than usual. Warm lemon water also is a great energy booster, and has some amazing skin benefits as well!
Is this a staple in my routine?
I’ve read a lot about different ways to drink warm lemon water. I usually take half a glass of water at a warm temperature (not hot!), and squeeze half of a lemon into it. This is something that I do as soon as I get up in the morning. It has become almost routine! The biggest thing that I have noticed is the increase in my energy levels. Personally, I feel like I get more done throughout the day. I’ve also noticed that my skin has been on its best behavior. That could be from my.skincare, but that has been standard for a while. Like I mentioned earlier, I also have not been as sick as I usually get during the spring too! The most important part of drinking warm lemon water is the fact that you are taking in more water, and your body will thank you for it!
My final thoughts on the warm lemon water craze
While I did notice changes that were similar to what warm lemon water promises, I cannot say that it is a miracle worker. Do I think that most of these benefits will come from drinking water? Yes I do. I am going to continue drinking warm lemon water for a couple of reasons. The first is that it does make drinking water easier, and that is something I struggle with. I enjoy the taste of the water being infused with a bit of lemon, and knowing that it does have some wellness properties is also a great incentive. From my experience, I do eat less throughout the day, and since I am trying to drop some pounds right now, that is great for me! I’m thinking of making a large pitcher to keep in my fridge so that I can have it throughout the day as well.
