What is Olaplex No. 4 and No. 5?
A few months ago, I did a blog post about Olaplex No. 3. If you are unfamiliar with that post, then it is a pre-wash treatment that is meant to help strengthen your hair. Recently, Olaplex has introduced their newest products the Olaplex No. 4 and No. 5. These are unique to the brand because they are maintenance products that you can actually use at home. The Olaplex No. 4 is the shampoo, and naturally, the Olaplex No. 5 is the conditioner. I had some pretty amazing results from using the Olaplex No. 3, and have been using it religiously since then. I have even taken it on two vacations with me because I have to have it!

The Olaplex No. 4 and No. 5 were basically immediate purchases for me. When I ordered them, I had not heard anything about either of the products, at all. I know what you are thinking, “do I really need an expensive shampoo and conditioner?”. Well, I want to say that the answer is no, but I’m not really that sure. I’ve seen such incredible changes in my hair since I began using this system, and I don’t know if I want to change that, honestly.
What does it exactly do?
As you can imagine, these essential work as a traditional shampoo and conditioner would work. The biggest reason these are different is because they have that solution that helps your hair gain the strength that it may have lost. If you have used Olapex No. 3 in the past, then you know that it focuses on restoring, repairing, and hydrating your hair. I have pretty damaged hair from years of heat styling. In addition to damage, I have curly hair which is prone to breakage. Probably for about two years, I saw no growth with my hair due to the breakage being so bad! After I began using Olaplex No. 3, I noticed that my hair not only began to grow, but it had been stronger than ever.
After over a month of using the Olaplex No. 4 and No. 5, I can honestly say that I have noticed a change in my hair. Not only is my hair continuously getting stronger, but it has helped my curly hair as well. While my hair still has frizz issues, I can go longer without the need to do anything to it, which is great!
Final thoughts about Olaplex No. 4 and No. 5
I want to note that the texture of both formulas is really great! The shampoo is thick enough so that it actually stays in my hair, and I get to really have a great clean feeling when I use it. The conditioner is incredibly thick too! I usually apply it, and leave it on my hair for about 5 minutes before I wash it out. The smell is like a citrus/vanilla type of scent, but is not strong enough to notice. If you are looking for it, it is there though. Each of them are going to run you $28 dollars, so it is not the cheapest haircare system, but I think it makes a really big difference. Each bottle contain over 8 ounces of product, so they will last you for quite a few washes.
