Sunday Riley The Influencer

About a year ago, I was literally obsessed with Sunday Riley. So naturally, when I heard that they were trying round two with makeup, I was immediately interested. I’ve been trying out Sunday Riley The Influencer for a bit of time, and I think I am ready to give my honest opinion. It’s got quite some big shoes to fill! Is this the best new product at Sephora right now? Is it worth the money?  Let’s chat!

So this is marketed as a clean and long wearing foundation. I typically consider “clean” makeup as something that is not only ideal for the environment, but also ideal for our health as well. This foundation is $42 dollars, and comes in 20 different shades. As I always say, I am usually the fairest shade, or maybe one shade up. I don’t think I am qualified to speak on the richness of the deeper tones. I always suggest trying to swatch the product at Sephora if you can. Nothing is worse than wasting money on something you will not use. The finish is a satin-matte finish, and applies mostly like a medium coverage. It does claim to be a medium to full coverage, but that is definitely after some building of the product.

While the Sunday Riley The Influencer contains no talc or synthetic fragrances, it does contain silicone. Silicone is not my favorite ingredient to put on my face, pretty much ever. It clogs pores, can cause acne to flair up, prevent your skin from gaining nutrients, and overall, they don’t add anything! What I will say is that this foundation covered my redness, and evened out the tone of my skin. It also contains Canadian Willowherb, Northern Truffle Extract, and Bisabolo to soothe your skin. Once again, I wonder how much of this is coming into contact with your skin since there is silicone?

How does it wear?

I was quite skeptical when I applied it. The shade I picked up was actually darker than what I typically go for. This is mainly due to how my skin changes during the summer. I was pretty unhappy with how it looked at first, but after a second coat of the foundation, it was a different story. It almost changed instantly. Now, when I say that I applied two “coats”, these are very thin layers of the foundation. I do think that it builds upon itself very nicely. Do I wish that I didn’t have to wear two layers for a more full coverage? Yes. Is one layer good enough for everyday wear? Yes! It wore beautifully throughout the day, and I did not notice it moving until I washed it off at night.

The rest of my face makeup went on well also. Once again, a huge factor in how I like a product. One thing that surprised me was the amount of product that I received. I expected it to be larger in terms of the amount you received. It does contain a pump though, so that is always a great feature to have! I picked this up during the Sephora VIB Sale, so I enjoyed the 15% off. I’m not entirely sure it is worth the higher price tag. Especially when I have been obsessed with the YSL Touche Éclat All-In-One Glow. I personally just experienced less transfer, and that foundation felt more secure on my skin. It is all preference though.

It’s pretty good. Check Sephora and see if you can get a sample first. It definitely reacts different on everyone’s skin!
