Alright, so in case you did not know….I love my hair. If you have been around for a bit, you know I had a momentary lapse in judgement where I dyed my hair purple. That is a discussion for another day. Haircare is something that I always really search for, and I think I may have found a great routine. Since we are on at the beginning of a new year, I am going to tell you what I am loving, and maybe you’ll love it too!
Haircare, no care!
Let me tell you about my hair first. I have super curly/kinky/thick/coarse hair. You name it, I have it. When it comes to haircare, I am always looking for moisture. To be honest, I have no idea why everything is millennial pink, and I am not sure I can apologize for it. So, not only is everything one of my favorite colors, all of these products actually make a difference to my hair. Oh yeah, best thing? You can pick up all of these for less than $15 bucks, which I always think is a win!
Let’s start with washing…
I have been a fan of Kristin Ess for quite a while. Not only is she a fellow redhead (HEY GIRL!), but she has been the hairstylist to some of my favorite celebs as well! I mean…she was on The Hills guys, and if that doesn’t speak to you on an emotional level, then I don’t know what does. Not only has she done every 25 to 30 year old’s queen, Lauren Conrad’s hair, but she has also done Lucy Hale, and a ton of other of your favorite celebs. So, she has created a line at Target, and y’all…IT IS EVERYTHING! First off, the packaging is seriously 2017/2018 goals. It is that perfect pink, completely instagramable, and it actually works.
I am currently using the signature shampoo, the cleansing conditioner, and the reconstructive moisture mask. All three have a very similar smell, which reminds me of the early nineties. It is a combination of soap, floral, and musk. None of the smells are offensive, and you will not have to deal with the smell thought the day. This does not lather too much, and that is something that I actually look for. I chose the cleansing conditioner because I have incredibly frizzy hair. This is definitely something that has basically zero suds, so keep that in mind while you’re shopping. It has a great thickness to it, and my hair feels moisturized after every use. Also, I have to have a deep conditioner! This one is crazy thick, and after a minute or two, it leaves my hair feeling as soft as a baby’s hair!
Styling begins in the shower
About a year ago I discovered the Living Proof In-Shower Styler. This definitely says it is better for straight to slightly wavy hair, but it works great on my wavy-curly hair as well. It tames the curls, and makes them much more manageable. I can go a few days on natural hair before having to actually style my hair. Add a little to your hair, lightly rinse, and go. The best thing about this product is that it does not way down your hair at all! While I cannot say what this does for straight hair, there is no way it can be bad!
Seriously, find a serum!
Because my hair is so fickle when it comes to….anything, a serum is something I rely on. I love the L’oreal Smooth Intense Frizz Taming Serum. This is slightly thicker than serums that I have used in the past, but I can actually feel a difference in my hair after I use this. It honestly cuts down on the frizz that I experience before I style my hair. Not only doest that help with the breakage before I style my hair, but it really makes the final styled product so much better! Also, can I talk about how amazing this smells? One word of advice…do not put this on your roots. Seriously! It will make your hair pretty oily, and you will have to start the whole process over.
Let’s finish this up…
I have never been a huge fan of hairspray. You can ask my mom, aunt, and even my grandmother. The hunt for a hairspray that actually stays, but doesn’t make my hair stiff has been real. While at, of all places, Target, I stumbled across Nexxus Comb Thru Volume Finishing Mist Hairspray. This is seriously the best! Not only does it actually hold my style in place, but it is easy to brush and move around if I make a mistake. It also does not have that horrible hairspray scent that most products do. The mist is incredibly fine, so it does not feel like you are adding additional product to your hair, but the longevity of your style says differently.
