Working from home can seem like the dream, right? As amazing as it is to have my living room as my office, working is not always easy. I’m constantly asked about how I can actually get things done while working from home. To be honest, it is not hard at all. So what do I do? Keep reading to find out!
Working from home is kinda cool
Honestly, I really do love working from home. I get to be in a space that I really love, and I don’t have to deal with anyone annoying me! The biggest thing to remember is that working from home should not be too different than working a regular office job. Even though I can wear my slippers around my “office”, I still treat my work like I would be doing it surrounded by peers and collaboration tables. As much as I want to play Sims 4 all day, I know that I have obligations that I have to finish first.
An easy way to stay productive is to create hours of work for yourself. I always start working around when I normally would if I had an office job, and I end around the same time. In my position, I actually have to be available any time, but you catch my drift. Tasks that I know need to get done are completed within those hours. You can also schedule your day so that you know exactly what you have to complete, and you can decide how much time each of those tasks require. If you feel the need for a break, or you really want to watch that DVR of Vanderpump Rules, do it! Just make sure that your work is getting done though.
Create a workspace
For those who don’t work from home, they probably think you are sitting on the couch. While there are times where I work from my couch, I am usually in my office and working on my desk. Not only is this a creative space for me, but it is also organized. I have everything I need within reach, and I have surrounded it with items I love. A lot of these items could actually be blog props too. Not only is this an area that you can get work done, but it can also be aesthetically pleasing as well. Another reason that creating an actual workspace is to keep your home balanced. Not only do I not have a television in my bedroom, but I do not work in that room. I honestly don’t really bring my laptop too often. My bedroom is for snoozing, and that is it!
In addition to having a great workspace, it really needs to be organized. I love to have everything around me organized, but if you just need a desk space, then that works too. Knowing where everything you need is can actually make you more productive. It also means you won’t be searching around your house for things that you need. Since I have gathered quite a few blog props, organization has really become a huge part of my life. Everything has a home, and once I have used it, it goes right back to where it belongs. This shockingly has changed the way I organize my entire apartment, and I am kind of living for it!
Get dressed for the day
While working from home, it is super easy to just lounge around. In the past, I’ve never gotten up and ready to do anything. I was sending emails, and scheduling content in whatever I had slept in the previous night. Once I began to get up it was life changing! Not only does a nice shower wake you up, but it is a great way to jump start your day. Personally, I also feel more productive when I get dressed. Even though it may not be exactly what I would wear to an office job, what I choose is usually nicer than pajamas. Makeup is not usually part of getting, but that is just a personal thing. I really love to give my skin some no makeup days.
