What to do to help your blog that isn’t writing a new post
When it comes to blogging, there is so much more that goes into it than one could imagine! I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t feel like writing every single day, and when I do feel like it, I’ll write a month’s worth of content at once. Even when I’m not creating new content for my blog, the work is seriously never ending over here! Someone on Twitter (I wish I could find the tweet!) mentioned that if you are ever not busy as a blogger, you’re doing something wrong. This really got me thinking about all of the things that I do for my blog daily that isn’t writing, but can really help your blog grow!
Check in on your SEO
I’ve done so many posts about the importance of SEO, check here, here, and here! One of the most difficult aspects of SEO and showing Google that your blog is of value involves backlinks! Say that you write a new post about the benefits of drinking water, but have written about that topic in the past. Go back to that post and link the two together. You should be creating content that continues to add value, and not what you have already written. Creating backlinks makes Google happy, and it will help raise your Domain and Page Authority. You can also provide a valuable comment to another blogger’s post to help! This not only supports their content that they work hard on but can help your backlinks!
Constantly update your blog, seriously!
If you have been a loyal subscriber to the blog, you have seen it go through some serious changes over the years. Not only do I switch the theme, but images are constantly changing as well. As my photography skills evolve, I love to update my images so that they are the highest quality possible. Even though I’m not perfect at photography, I have so much fun trying new techniques and learning more about my camera. If you read my post ab0ut blog investments, then you know the importance of a great theme. I love Pipdig for themes and am actually happy about my theme at the moment. Even if you can’t invest a lot of money into your blog, there are a lot of affordable options on Etsy or Creative Market.
Create content upgrades for your subscribers
If there is one thing I have noticed from blogging is that you need to give something to your readers. Not only are they taking time out of their day to read your blog, but they are just choosing to read your blog in the first place! If you aren’t creating a newsletter, then you could be missing out on connecting with your readers! I also recently created a resource library for my subscribers which features tons of blogging resources, ebooks, and downloads. Don’t worry, you can join the fun right here! If you are amazing at graphics, then you can offer those as well! Instagram highlights are super popular right now, but your girl is not an artist!
Learning never goes out of style
Thanks to the Internet, there are so many amazing courses online. Even if they don’t pertain to blogging, learning is still something that you should be doing! I’ve been on a mission to teach myself French again! There are some bloggers with really amazing online courses that you can join too. Most of them are worth the investment! Places like Hubstop have free online courses that you can join as well. I took an amazing content marketing class a while back! I’ve also been reading more books, and there are some great skills to learn from that as well!
